What made you decide to start your own business?
I always wanted to start my own business, most likely because I was brought up in a family that had always been in business for themselves. So it was a natural thing to do.
What’s been your biggest success in business to date?
Starting Head Resourcing in 2001 and seeing it grow to a business that will turnover over £40m in 2011. Secondly, building Par Equity into a successful investment business in the middle of a banking crisis!
What’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given?
Surround yourself with the best (people).
Which entrepreneur inspires you the most?
Hard to say, but a number of names standout; Jim McColl, Bill Gammell and Bob Keiller for example.
Which 3 qualities do you think are most important to have as an entrepreneur?
Tenacity, being able to inspire others, absolute focus on the customer.
What business tool could you not live without?
My iPhone – the Apps I find most useful are Kiltr and LinkedIn.
